Theisen speaks of the CSB and SJU Boards selecting him to be the co-institutional coordinator and he was to report directly to a six-member Committee on Cooperation (representatives of the two Boards). He writes, "I would thus be able to bypass the two presidents and their administrative structures, if necessary and go directly to the Committee on Cooperation,...for guidance, support and legitimation. Normally I would work with the presidents, vice-presidents, deans, and other officers of each school, but I had the authority to override the presidents if necessary." Theisen adds his thought on why the CSB administration had special appreciation for him: "because I stood up to SJU's rather arrogant attempt to dominate the partnership to its own advantage. I believe I consistently spoke for fairness."
