An emphatic endorsement to broaden the areas of cooperation in order to "lead ultimately to coordinate, cooperative, co-educational undergraduate institutions...." a. most academic departments to be unified and "headquartered on one or the other campus"; b. students conceivably could take the majority of their course work on the campus of the other college; c. administrative offices will be coordinated and in some instances will be unified on one or the other campus 2. This effort will be directed by a coordinator to be appointed by the Boards of Trustees upon the recommendations of the Coordinating Committee and with the approval of the Associate Boards of Trustees; 3. Unification of academic departments and administrative offices is to be accomplished by January 1971: a. after that time the two boards will consider whether to create a single charter for Saint John's and Saint Benedict's as separate colleges, with a single corporate identity. b. such action would have to be approved by the Monastic Chapter of Saint John's Abbey which holds the territorial charter governing SJU. (CSB already exists as a corporate entity separate and apart from St. Benedict's Convent); 4. The intention to establish co-educational undergraduate colleges specifically excludes consideration of Saint John's University Graduate School and its School of Divinity. Joint Administrative Council Minutes, Memos and Reports, 1968-1969 Report of the Grading Study Committee, January 1969 Stanley Idzerda, "Saint Ben's and Saint John's: Why Should We Travel Together?"
