F.J. Fleissner, circa 1914
Studio portrait of a young man with slicked-back hair, short on the sides, no sideburns. He wears a single-breasted jacket with lapel pin, vest, high detachable double round collar, and necktie.
Black and white, oval format, 4 7/8 x 3 7/16 inches. Mounted on an ivory board with beveled edges, and a debossed oval with an embossed silver frame for the picture area. Debossed in silver at lower right: "St. John's Studio, Collegeville, Minn."
In black pen at lower left: "With Compliments to P. Isidore, O.S.B. -- F.J. Fleissner." Below that, in another hand, in blue ink, "(Fr. Jerome OSB)."
Covered with an onionskin protector. In gray folder with an embossed lion on the front. Right front edge is deckled. Total folded size 7 x 10 inches.
Inside the back cover of the folder is tucked a small photo of two men with no identifying information. (29b).
Frank J. Fleissner received a certificate for two years' college work from St. John's in June 1914, entered the seminary in the 1915-1916 academic year as Jerome Fleissner, O.S.B.
