Student Photographs (cartes de visite), 1881
1. Francis Bernick. Half-length portrait of curly-haired boy, seated. He is wearing a single-breasted coat with only the top button fastened, over a dark shirt with no collar. On green card, Written on back: "Fr. Bernick, 1881."
2. Hugh A. Flynn. Full-length studio portrait of young man in suit and tie standing beside a chair with an open back and upholstered seat. Only the top button of his coat is fastened. He wears a broad bow tie. His shirt has a standing collar. On green card. Wrotten on back: "Hugh Flynn of Mandan, D. T., Dec. 31, 1881."
3. George Kaup. Head-and-shoulders studio portrait of a young man wearing a suit, fancy cravat with tie tack, and shirt with wing collar. On pink card. Photographer: G. Kramer, St. Louis, Mo. Written on back: "Geo Kaup," and, in another hand, "77-81." Same photo as folder 13 (1879), 454.0195, but this copy has been cut down on top and bottom.
4. William Kenehan. Studio portrait of young man in suit and a cravat with a dotted pattern. Thumbprint on the negative on one lapel. On blue card. Written on back: "Wm Kenehan, Student, 1881."
5. Joseph Mayer and Louis Mertens. Full-length studio portrait of two young men in suits. Each wears a dark cravat. The man on the left has a mustache and full beard. He is seated, and wears a watch chain. The man on the right is clean-shaven, and stands with his hand on the other's shoulder. Written on back: "Mayer & Mertens, 1881." Both students were from Jordan, Minnesota.
6. Raymond Smith. Faded studio portrait of a curly-haired boy sitting with his arms crossed. Written on back: "Raymond Smith, 1881."
7. Andrew Schneider. Studio portrait of young man wearing checked jacket with only the top button fastened, over a bow tie and shirt with band collar. Photographer: Frank Bishop, Jr., Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pinhole in top center. Back of card damaged in center--possibly was previously glued to another paper. Identified on bottom front as "Andrew Schneider, M.A., 1881." Schneider received a Master of Accounts degree in 1881.
