Huijbers' setting is elementary in character, as advocated by Carl Orff, It begins with a descending phrase through a fifth. The tessitura throughout the verses is restrained, and contained only at the very end of each verse, where it rised to its highest point only on the final phrase. Although clearly Gregorian in flavor, it fails to develop into a melody but retains the quality of the fundament melos, which best serves the text. - Tony Barr
