This large piece was commissioned by St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Washington DC, for the dedication of the new parish church, 1 June, 1985. It is dedicated to the Rev. S. James Steen, Rector; Mr. John Hurd, Director of Music; and the choirs and congregation of St. Patrick's Church. In this file, besides a manuscript of the original score (18 pages long), there are the following: 2 copies of the full score; 2 incomplete scores; original manuscripts and multiple copies of individual parts for 2 trumpets in C, 2 trombones, timpani; a two page guide sheet with text (and congregation refrains); 2 worship booklets from the dedication and consecration service held at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Diocese of Washington (June 1, 1985), for which the piece was written and at which it was premiered; and the original file folder this music was in (there are phone numbers and notes written on it). This piece is written to be sung by cantor, congregation, and SATB choir. The song is based on a melody found in a 17th c. MS., Trinity College, Dublin. It is unclear if this has ever been published.
