Psalm 134
Scope and Contents
Psalm 134 / Arthur Hilton ; Claude Goudimel; Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck ; Richard Proulx. Publication No.: 352-00447-8
Proulx took the original Sweelinck motet (ed. and arr. by Arthur Hilton), cut off the organ accompaniment, and wrote in new words (psalm 134) in place of the old. Proulx also added on an organ intonation of the tune, OLD HUNDREDTH (which the motet is apparently based on), to the beginning of the piece. According to a note on the manuscript, this organ intonation was based on Goudimel. Hilton's original arrangement of Sweelinck's piece (which Proulx's SSATBB parts are a direct copy of) was entitled Arise Ye Who Serve the Lord (Orsus serviteurs du Seigneur) and had the following publishing information: © 1971 Mercury Music Corp., Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Theodore Presser Co., Sole Representative (352-00447-8).
