Scope and Contents

Angels we have heard (gloria) Traditional French carol

This arrangement (by Proulx) of the carol, "Angels We Have Heard On High" (Tune: Les anges dans nos campagnes) is written for congregation and SATB choir with accompaniment by organ (or 2 alternating organs), 2 trumpets. This is in the key of F major. It is unclear if this has ever been published. Proulx wrote the trumpet parts and the 29 measure organ introduction, but the accompaniment for the verses and refrain is by Edward Shippen Barnes (photocopied). In this file, there are two copies of Barnes' accompaniment (one of which has a manuscript of Proulx's introduction taped to it), as well as a manuscript of the music for 2 trumpets in C.
