Scope and Contents

Verbum caro factum est / Christian Geist ; Richard Proulx. Publisher's no.: G-4158.

This piece was originally composed by Christian Geist (1640-1711). What is in this file is Proulx's edited version. It is written for SA choir, two violins, cello, and optional bass (continuo), and organ. Included in the file are the following: 2 photocopies of the choral score, 4 photocopies of the score of the instrumental parts, and manuscripts (and copies) of individual instrument parts: violin I, violin II, cello, bass, organ continuo). It is unclear if this edition of the piece was ever published.

This piece was in a file entitled, "RP scores, work on." Originally, it was a piece written for 3 equal voices by T. L. da Vittoria (or Victoria), and was published in octavo form by Gregorian Institute of America. Richard Proulx apparently had plans to edit the piece. In the margins, he wrote a few directives/ideas ("Start with Lindusky translation," and "SAB?"), and considered new starting pitches for the 3 parts. More work would need to be done in order to prepare the piece for publication.
