Choral responses, 1968
Scope and Contents
Choral Responses (booklet Proulx created for the exclusive use of the choirs of Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago, 1968).
This is a booklet that Proulx put together in 1968 for the exclusive use of the choirs of Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago. It contains many different responses that could be sung during Eucharist. The booklet is stapled together...and it appears that a mistake was made (more than one set of pages is stapled together). In addition, there are extra pages that are not attached. Some of the music in the booklet was arranged by Proulx. Most of it, however, comes from other composers' works: Dom Gregory Murray, OSB; Melchior Vulpius; ?? - "Airs sur les hymnes sacrez, odes et noëls" (1623);Taizé; Genevan Psalter (1551)/harm. by Claude Le Jeune (1601); Kenneth Leighton; William Smith (1645); Felice Anerio (1560-1614); Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770); Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625); Thomas Weelkes (15751623); Thomas Tallis (1505-1585); Leo Sowerby (1963); J. S. Bach (1685-1750); Robin Sheldon; Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924); William Byrd (1543-1623); G. da Palestrina (1525-1594); E. W. Naylor; Anonymous - 17th c. French; Bernard Rose (1961); William Albright (1979); Chanoine Chabot (ca. 1900, Paris).
