Scope and Contents
Fanfare, hymn, and variants on "Maria zu lieben" OVERSIZE
This is a score of a large original piece by Richard Proulx, based on a melody from the Paderborn Gesangbuch (1765). Proulx wrote the piece in 1965 (see photocopy) and revised it in 1966 (see tan). It is written for two trumpets, two trombones, timpani, organ, SATB choir, descant. The original text of this manuscript (that has been crossed out in this revision) included 7 verses. In this revised version of the score, the piece has been cut down to only five verses, with Proulx indicating only the beginning words of the first four verses (i.e. “Ye servants of God . . . “; “God ruleth on high . . . “; “Salvation to God . . . “; “Then let us adore . . . “). The final verse is the same as in the original (“To Father eternal loud anthems now raise . . . ,“ etc.). The original copyright on the manuscript is as follows: © The Holy Childhood Schola Cantorum – 1435 Midway Pkwy. – St. Paul, Minnesota, March 8, 1965 (before revisions).
