Scope and Contents
St. John's University calendar picture frame, 1915.
Cardstock picture frame, 5 1/4 x 8 inches. Back board is ivory, front board is tan, fastened at top with a brown leather ribbon. 2 15/16 x 5 1/16 inch window for picture. In upper right is 3/4 inch diameter St. John's University coat of arms, printed in the school colors red and blue, and embossed with metallic gold. The shield is red. The banner across the shield, and the background for the school name and founding date are blue. The rest is gold. At the bottom of the frame, a calendar for 1915 is attached, inside a tan flap embossed in gold "1915."
The coat of arms/seal is Gilbert Winkelmann's design: two monks, a shield with a pine tree. See 2020-007.0021 084/5 (Box 2:13) for further description.
Leather has been rubbed in spots but is still supple. Pinhole in framed area of back board.
