Wally Wellenstein Athletics Display

Newspaper clippings, some photocopied, from the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the St. John's University Record, and an unknown source. Chenille varsity letter J, Carolina blue, with red wool or felt symbol for track embroidered in light blue. Medals for state college track meet: 1st place for 100-yard dash in 1941 and 1946, 2nd place for 100-yard and 220-yard dash in 1942.

All under plexiglas. Silver-colored frame, front is shiny and slightly rounded, sides flat with a brush finish. Wire for hanging. 20 1/4 x 25 1/4 x 1 5/8 inches.

Wallace J. "Wally" Wellenstein attended St. John's University in 1940-42, served in the Army for three years, and returned to St. John's as a junior in spring semester, 1946. He died in 2012.
