Huijbers set this energetic text to an inexhaustible rhythm, a continuous flow of quasi-staccato phrases with no discontinuity between the flow of verses. It is based on a 4-measure pattern, occasionally interrupted as determined by the text. Numbers in the score identify each pattern, also serving as reference points for the percussion figures (see age 10). The piece is syllabically structured, lacking in his trademark syncopations. Reaching a climax, chromaticisms begin to dominate the accompaniment. The de lontano indicates that the accompaniment is played as in the background, never overwhelming the text. He uses three melodic formulas throughout, always returning to the first figure: measures. 1-31 I 32-43 II a+b 44-66 I 67-76 III a+b 79-103 I - Tony Barr
