Stations of the Cross: an oratorio by Bryan Beaumont Hays. For soloists, chorus and chamber orchestra. English poems by Dorothy Schmenk. (Latin texts from the Vulgate, with the exception of the apocryphal twentieth century text, Ecco rex vester), translated by Raymond Pedrigetti into Latin. Dedication: For J. F. Powers. Soloists: Narrator, Christus (tenor); Jesus (baritone); Mary, Veronica (high soprano); Mixed chorus (SATB). Orchestra (a minimum 18 players): Flute (Piccolo); Oboe; Clarinet (B flat and A) interchangeable with Bass Clarinet in B flat; Alto saxophone in E flat; Bassoon; Horn in F; 2 Trumpets in C; Tenor Trombone; Tuba; Harp; Piano; Timpani (1 player); Percussion (2 players); 4 viola; 4 cello; 3 double basses.
