Baseball - 1904
Studio portrait of a monk (Hilary Doerfler) with eleven boys in front of painted background. The monk is in habit, and wears wire-rim glasses and a bowler hat. One boy wears a suit and tie. The rest are in baseball uniforms: padded knickers, dark stockings, long-sleeved collared shirts over dark jerseys, and baseball caps. At least three wear gloves or mitts; two hold baseballs.
Black and white photograph, brown tone. Mounted on black board with beveled edges. Front of mounting board stamped in gold: St. John's Studio, Collegeville, Minn.
Written on back of board: "P. Hilary Doerfler, OSB / June 1904 / A. [illegible]". "A. B." may be Albert Bruener.
