St. Alexius Priory / Caesar's Bridge
Two black-and-white photographs, brown tone. Mounted on front and back of a single mounting board with rounded corners. Printed gold rule "frame" for the picture area on each side.
Photo 1: St. Alexius Priory, West Union, 1883. A man wearing hat and coat sits on a boulder in a field in front of a three-story building and large adjacent barn. Two monks stand in the background, near the house. Another building is partially seen, on the left edge of the picture.
Written in pen on upper left of board: O FM6.9 / S6-1.15
Typed on sticker on reverse: "St. Alexius Priory belonging to St. Johns, Located at West Union, Todd Co.," and written in pencil: "Reverse side." Stamped at upper right on this side: "St. John's Abbey Archives, Collegeville Minnesota 56321."
4 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches. Print is torn diagonally at lower right.
Photo 2: Caesar's Bridge, St. John's, 1888. Footbridge over the mouth of Caesar's Bay. Looking southwest. Behind the bridge is a view across Lake Sagatagan. Trees on the left (south), a small shrub or tree on the right, some vegetation in foreground.
