Scope and Contents

Seminarians Smell Something (1918?)

Informal group photo, outdoors. Eighteen young men in cassocks. As one of the men, seated, pretends to remove a stick that has gone through the sole of his shoe, the others try to distance themselves with their walking sticks, plug their noses, or hold their hats between themselves and the shoe.

Written on bottom of photo in black pen are three names: Mahowald, Peter Meier, Cramer. In blue pen at lower right: 1918?

If taken in about 1918, the picture includes Edward Mahowald '17, Peter P. Meyer '21, and Edmund Cramer '18.

Black and white photo. Likely a real photo postcard. A piece of paper has been glued over the back, however.

This photograph has been digitized.
