Doerfler, Kapsner, Hoffmann, Scheffold, circa 1892
Scope and Contents
Doerfler, Kapsner, Hoffmann, Scheffold
Studio portrait.
Top row: Doerfler, Kraker, "Patsy" Scheffold, John Ortmann.
Bottom row: Hoffmann, P. Francis Mershman OSB, Kapsner.
John Henry Ortmann became Fr. Anselm Ortmann, O.S.B. He received a B.A. and Master of Accounts, 1892, seminarian until 1897.
The Scheffold in this picture is likely Athanasius, who became Fr. Ulric Scheffold, O.S.B. Athanase was a classmate of John H. Ortmann, receiving the same degrees at the same time.
Possible other identities: George C. Doerfler received a B.A. in 1892. Joseph Kapsner received a Master of Accounts in 1892, as did two students named Kraker. If this photo was 1890-1892, "Hoffmann" is Gustav Hofmann, who became Fr. Dominic Hofmann, O.S.B.
Brown tone, possibly an albumen print. Cabinet card with gold beveled edges.
On back: St. John's Art Gallery, Collegeville, Minnesota.
Same studio background as in number 09 in this box, 1889, and number 13, 1892.
Same photo as Box 09, #32.
