President's Medal Plaque, 1969 1989
Scope and Contents
President's Medal Plaque (former style). Dark wood frame, stained and lightly varnished, with wide slope down on inner edge, and narrower on outer edge. Round medallion with stylized representation of Sacred Heart Chapel dome and St. Gertrude tower in center. Ringed by the words: "Constituamus scolam in servitio Domini." Outer ring has words: "College of Saint Benedict / President." Below medallion is brass plate with thin engraved border and the words: "President's Medal / awarded to." On burgundy velvet-like cloth. Slot for hanging on back of plaque. 9 3/8 x 11 13/16 x 1 3/16 inches. Gold foil sticker on back: "Josten's / the recognition people." Came to the Archives in pasteboard Josten's box labeled, "President's Medal - the last of this version." Box 10 1/8 x 13 1/8 x 1 3/8 inches. Probably between 1969, when the first CSB President's Medal was awarded, and 1989, when the last evidence of Josten's using this slogan was found.
